I did this with my gauges yesterday and I dont know it its right. Power comes from where I unhooked the AIH power, right? The picture and mine look the same. Wondered because it seems to stay on till I start the truck in the morning. Doesnt go out like the wait to start light does. Either im not used to it being thay much longer than the wait to start light, or I did something wrong.
The wts light and what the gp relay is really doing is 2 different things. The led can and sometimes will stay on for up to 2 mins after you turn the key even though the wts light shuts off after a few seconds.
No power comes from the wire going to the GPR that triggers the GPR relay. On mine, the trigger wire is the one closest to the firewall on the GPR. Just take the nut off and place the wire to the led on that post and retighten.
Yea it came on this morning and I waited and waited and it didnt turn off till after I started the truck. Nice and sunny out here, but a little chilly not much. Got to my first clients after a warm up before towing, about 30 minute drive. All gauges were at opperating temps when I shut down. Gotback in about an hour later go to start, and the light doesnt come on. Is that normal? Do they not always cycle depending how warm the engine still is?

thats correct, once its warmed up you wont see the light on anymore until the truck cools down again
Jeff your talking about the red wire, with the blue ring connector right, under the 13mm nut. If so I got it right. Checked the light again and seems to be working, I just cant belive how much difference there is between the WTS light, and the led. Thanks guys.
At least it lit for you the first time. When I originally installed mine, the engine was warm so the led never lit up. I spent an extra hour trying to figure what was wrong. Then I posted on FTE and called it a day.
Glow plug LED illuminates for the entire duration of time that the glow plugs are energized; glow plugs aren't energized while starting when engine oil temperature is over 130F therefore glow plug LED won't illuminate at all when starting with engine oil temp over 130F.

Generally the WTS light is thought of as a reminder. Many around here (including myself in occasion) call it a dummy light. I am starting to believe that the intent was to allow the plugs 15-30 seconds to warm the cylinder before cranking, then continue running the plugs for an additional 30-90 seconds to ensure a clean burn and no smoke.
Of course that would imply that the WTS light isn't a dummy light after all... Lol
