Other than the banks is there any Y pipe fix? And is it worth it? Looking at the design it seems to restrict flow. Wondering if anybody makes a new better flowing Y pipe and is it worth messing with if not doing the banks?
I have an aftermarket exhaust and plan on getting the Volant cold air intake.
Would a better flowing Y pipe help?
I also changed out the rest of the exhaust and it's definitely made a difference. Depending on your exhaust it can make it sound a little different as the V10 flutter will show up but it's not bad on mine.
I bought it off the eBay store though. They take their time shipping them out, but it's a good product.
I'm putting headers on mine here in the next week-month, so I will have my y pipe available to someone. I'll post it up in the giveaway thread when it's ready to go.

Similiar to what it sounds like if you stuck a playing card in the spokes of a wheel and spun it. Rushing air sound with a distinct ticking flavor to it, you have flutter in a V10 you won't miss it.

That's a strange phenomenon, I wonder why they didn't have some kind of baffle or resonator instead of restricting the exhaust. Funny thing about manufacturers; when the engineer says something they just say, "OK let's do that".

Well that's not something I think I want to hear?
Maybe I'll just leave it alone and call it good enough. I would love to do the Banks kit and I would if it didn't have 160k on it.

I had "flutter bad" from from the broken studs and especially when the up pipe flange busted loose, that made it really awful. Exhaust pulses didn't know which way to go, and just smacked around in those pipes and made all kinds of racket.
Headers are a different sound, I wouldn't call it flutter, I would call it deep growl like a really pissed off Rottweiler; when you are accelerating hard, then it's gone. Don't now how just new pipes would sound, not been there done that.

I love the sound of headers, I've had many of them on my hotrods years ago.
I got the SPD y-pipe when i ordered my 5star tuner. I haven't noticed a difference in sound from the exh. Also not sure of a perf. Difference because of the tuner. But looking at the factory y-pipe there has to be an improvement! I'll definitely notice when i tow my trailer.
i've been wanting to do this but the flutter scares me. i'm sure i would have to put a muffler on as an annoying flutter/resonating is not what i want to hear. hmm
