My dad has been in a nursing home for about a year and a half. The reason why they are selling it is because they just can not afford it any longer. Taxes and heat have been taking a big chunk of the limited funds that they have. My mom will be moving into a senior apartment complex that is subsidized, and it sounds like it is not going to cost too much each month. The biggest issue for me is my house is right across from theirs so I have never really left "home". They bought the place in 1950 and they raised myself along with my older sister and older brother there.

Wow, that will be tough. I have been asked to sell it and to rent Mom's house. I can't or don't want to do that, yet. That will be your Mom and Dad's house for a long time, or as long as you, your brother and your sister still remember it.

Yeah it will be. Out of the 3 kids, I am the only one in NY. My sister is in Florida and my brother is in Arizona. So they do not see the place day in, day out like I do. But it is a fact of life that things do change and we knew that this would happen some day, and you just can not prepare yourself for it to happen.
