I was trying to get my 03 X 6.0 Powerstroke smogged this morning and the darnedest thing happened, their machine couldn't communicate with the truck. This is weird because I have a Scangauge II hooked up full time to the same OBD II port and it reads just fine. My cheapo scanner also connected with no problems. I checked out the fuses and for gunk in the connectors, but no dice. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Check for a bent pin on the scanner plug. I have one of my scanners that a pin will sometimes get bent and not go in the slot of the connector on the truck.

If your scanner and SGII hooks to it, the state has a problem with their devise.
