flareside bed protection options

I need you help finding an option to protect freshly restored bed on my truck.
What would one have to use the truck as a truck and move debris and dirt for home remodeling projects.
I spend to much time and money to get to this point, so I must do something to keep it looking nice as long as possible.

Your funny. If my bed looked like that i would make a polyethylene vacuum molded see through protector so rain couldnt even touch it.

In all honesty if i took one that far id just buy a trailer.

Trailer is not an option - no place to store it

Yes, I got carried away with this one...

Maybe lay a large moving blanket down and use a tarp over it?

What about making something out of plexiglass that fits in the bed?

I would like to protect not only wood but sides and tailgate too.
Thinking of moving blankets plus tarp and ask wife to saw it such way that it will be easy to "wear" when needed.

Beautifully finished!

Since storage is a problem, what about borrowing or renting a trailer or renting a truck for those few times needed for doing "dirty" work?

I'm DIYer and I hove a lot of projects around our 'fixer-upper' house and tight budget. Renting something will mean extra $$...

Any more ideas on removable liner or something similar? There are not much for flareside out there.

Cut down a rubber bed mat. You could get one for a long bed and have it roll up the front and back for protection. It would be wide everywhere but the wheelwells and if cut right would roll up the side a 10" or so.

What about a large flat sheet of heavy cardboard, such as part of a shipping container. Cut it to fit allowing extra to protect the front and sides as well as the inside of the tailgate. You could duct tape the seams and then throw away after use or when badly worn. Cost effective!

I would build a plywood box and line the ~outside with commercial carpet (the glue-on kind). Fasten the box in the corners with 2x lumber and wood screws so it could be broken down quickly and easily for compact storage. The single wall steel on those beds is so easy to dent that tarps and such won't protect it. Only way I can see working is a rigid wooden insert that is padded with carpet to prevent scratching from debris that works its way in between the bed and the liner. I like the rubber bed matt idea too, but it won't help your sides and tailgate. Gorgeous restoration by the way.

I intend to be restoring the bed on my truck next winter and have similar concerns. The best idea that I have been able to come up with is as follows:

1 - Install Airline track mounting points along the top edge of the bedside (front, middle, rear) and one at the top center of the front bed panel.

Then I plan to uses these studs:

as mounting points for a custom cut and fitted heavy canvas tarp / bedliner.

So long as there are grommeted holes in the liner, it can be held to the stud with an eyebolt & lock-nut. The eyebolt can then be used as a tie-down.

Maybe you could recreate the inner bed panels and floor from diamond plate. If you bent the sides over to mimick the factory bed rails they could just hang off the bedsides. Throw some type of protective material on the backside to protect your beautiful paint and woodwork, and with it being aluminum it would be a breeze for any man or woman to remove by themselves.
