I am still looking for a truck, looking at both 6.0s and 6.4s.
When I get one, if it hasn't been done, I will likely be doing any pertinant deletes (I live in a non test state, can even do DPF deletes on the 6.4)
If I get a 6.0, will do head studs if they haven't been done, will only do studs on the 6.4 if I am ever that far into the engine.
My question is along those lines though, to do EGR or DPF deletes, and changin the standpipe, and all the other recommended list of mods, adding all the temp/pressure sensors, blue spring mod, etc. do you have to pull the cab off to do any of these, or is that only when you are pulling the heads to have them redecked while you replace bolts with studs?
I have access to a full shop, gf's dad's shop, where he is doing a set of 6.0 studs right now. He doesn't usually touch fords, hates them with a passion, only doing that one because it is his best friends van.
No to pulling the cab on the 6.0L in a truck. In the vans the 6.0 is horrible and you can't even squeeze in a fart under hood, but in a truck you can do everything cab on, up to replacing the heads and pulling the motor. If you want to, then go for it, but you don't need to at all.
which I guess means that I coudl do everything piecemeal right? EGR delete one weekend, DPF delete (on6.4) the next, blue spring and coolant filters another weekend, etc....not necassarily in that order.
Of course, if I had to do studs, with cab off, I would imagine that it would make alot of sense to just do everything else at that time while the engine is readily accessible?
Again, studs does not require cab removal on an F-Series 6.0L.
I would do it all at once, but if you want to do it one at a time it's just more parts to move more times, all it takes is time. The one thing I would caveat that with is that anything that involves removing the turbo is when you do the SCT fitting, if necessary for your year.
