Piston Slap??
Occassionaly I have a slight knock on start up with my V10.
It doesn't sound like a rod knocking or like an exhaust leak.. is this piston slap the early V10's are famous for?
Should I do anything different? I run standard 5w20 motocraft blend.

It not a cooling fan. It may be broken exhaust manifold studs?? It just doesn't sound like any exhaust leak I have ever heard.
After the truck is warm it goes away and is so quiet you can hardly hear the vehicle running.
I realized that my last oil change I used Mobile 5000 5w20. It's time for another oil change. Maybe the Motocraft 5w20 will resolve it. I always used the Motocraft filter.

Short skirt hypereutectic piston with a long stroke tend to have some piston slap on startup. Mainly startup in colder temps. I have some in colder temps and I use MC Filters and 5w-30 synthetic. Switching to a different brand oil more than likely will not change anything. Fram is an inferior filter (even the more expensive versions) best bang for the buck is the MC FL-820s or Purolator Pure One equivelent.
