Trey brought up a good point - security. As the market share for Chrome climbs, the hackers will turn their attention to it. IE has been attacked for years and the armor makes it cumbersome, like a knight of the realm. We may begin to see Chrome hacks... maybe. In the mean time, I need IE for all the off-site interfacing I do with the dozens of work computers, security, and control systems I support... so I don't have this option.
Ok so I thought I'd try chrome after all the good reviews here. Is there any way to move all my bookmarks from IE to chrome without visiting every page?

Use IE for the stuff you HAVE to, and use Chrome for everything else. That's what I do.
I used to be a diehard IE user.

You should see three parallel lines in the upper right hand corner of Chrome when it's open.
Click on the lines and then click on "Bookmarks" from the ensuing drop down menu window. Then click on "Import Bookmarks and Setting"
I'm diehard for dealing with Clay and I'm diehard for family, but I hate two things when it comes to computers: Microshaft and clogging it up. I don't have MS Office/Outlook, I use Open Office/Thunderbird. I have one software for each function and I avoid adding unnecessary software to my computer to keep it lean and mean. IE may not be a set of 240/200s, but my 160/100s get it done, and it behaves with everything else in there (and everything I do with it). I also use a lot of very proprietary software, which convulses into the Blue Screen of Death if I so much as flash a box of Win 8 at the built-in camera.
I don't disagree that IE sucks, but the point was to mention the upgrade helps. As for 160/100 analogy... IE works with the right computer, like the sticks work with the right engine.
OK I know that Firefox and Chrome are faster than IE...BUT.. IE 10 is nice but not all web sites work well with it right out of the box,. However, most will work if you click on the comptability button to the right of the address bar.
MS was nice enough to upgrade me to IE 10 without my knowledge or permission. It has been a five day horror story. I am running several dvrs and IP cams. Right away I lost the IP cam configurator. Going to the ACTi website for help, the help ticket page would not load for three days. I thougt it was the ACTi site till I tried on the Mac, no problems whatsoever. It was IE10. So then I uninstalled IE10 and installed a little add on that will prevent it from coming back. Voila, got my web configurator back and all the sites work now! Of course when IE9 restored both my icons were 64 bit. Didn't realize it for two days and none of my CCTV viewers would work. Finally realized what was wrong.
I am going to Chrome now. IE only for the camera viewers.
