How many wires go to the starter relay? I have a ton going to mine and I have stuff in my cab that won't turn off and I think I have a ground hooked to mine that's back feeding any help would be greatly appreciated.
Pretty-much everything in the truck connects to the battery via the starter relay. But it's only using that terminal as a junction point; the relay itself is not part of the circuit. What in particular isn't turning off? Do you mean you have accessories that should only go on with the key in ACC or RUN, and they go on without the key? That's more likely a problem with the ignition switch.
The abs light, the battery light is on but very dim, and the radio is on but it won't do anything when the key is on or off and when i remove it. That's why I think there's a ground on the power side.
Probably not a lot of help but here is a picture of mine. Terminal unplugged is the key to start wire. Big back terminal goes to starter relay. Big front terminal is battery, glow plug relay, alternator and main power to fuse boxes.
This is really making me think my starting relay is fried ill have to test it tonight and see what I get I have no crank and I got this back feeding problem I think it's either the relay or the ignition switch
In the picture above you can see where I have the ignition switch (start) wire unplugged. If you take a jumper wire and jump the bolt looking connector to the plus side of the battery the relay will engage and crank the truck. BE SURE the truck is in park or neutral with brake ON because this procedure bypasses all safety switches. Best to stand to the side just to make sure.
It starts just fine I replaced the ignition switch and I do have functions on the radio but the abs light and the radio doesn't turn off and still no crank
