Am I Missing a bracket?

this may seam like a weird question but not sure if im missing a bracket for my ashtray in my 71 f250. the tray is intact but falls out of dash if u bounce enough the in dash structure is there too. but i think im missing some sort of slider bracket that fits between inner structure and tray. reason i think that is because there is groves in the tray that don't match up to inner dash tack. thinking im missing a middle piece that uses ball bearings to guide the ash tray. id take a picture to show but i don't have the truck right now, it is in the shop having trans rebuilt. it has been over a month since it went in shop. wish i was still able to do repairs my self but this was over my head anyways. im trying to figure out how to fix the ashtray if i can. payday is coming up on 3rd so maybe i can afford to buy from a club member if they have one.

Thanks in Advance, GamerGirlAlice

1968/72 ashtray rides on (4) 354872-S ball bearings, (2 per side) which "go away" causing tray to flop around within receptacle. 1967's use a different ashtray, no ball bearings.

354872-S =

NOS PARTS LTD in Waxahachie TX has 4 = 972-937-2201.

ENGLAND FORD in Hinton OK has 5 = 405-542-3242.

DON SANDERSON FORD in Glendale AZ has 71 = 623-842-8643.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 456 = 800-543-4959.

Look at the parts catalog pic. Ashtray assy (04810) includes tray & receptacle, door and **** sold by themselves.

What are you missing? Probably the ball bearings, 536 of the little charmers listed in post 4.

My 70 f-100 looks like the one on the right. It has a clip that goes on the bottom of the piece with the slots in it. Goes underneath that piece and up the sides them holds 2 steel ***** on each side so the ash tray can move. Look at the junkyard just make sure the holes on clip are not wore out. Mine were that's why I had to replace the clip.

If yours has the clip the holes are most like wore out and the steel ***** have fallen out.

Maybe someone on the board has a donor truck with an extra one. I could check next time I go to junk yard but been working a lot and it might be a while before I get there.
