As I was looking thru LMC Truck catalog, I noticed that the 2wd and 4wd pivot arm and radius arm bracket has the same part numbers. Does this mean those parts are swappable between the 2 drivelines?! As in, are they the same parts from the factory?
So...with that said, will a 4wd lift kit that has drop brackets work on a 2wd system even if the manufacturer states "for 4wd"???
(With all due respect, I'm very much aware of people's opinions regarding lifting a 2wd, but it IS my truck in the end)
That is a great question.
The only thing I can think of is that a 2wd setup is shorter already then a 4wd, so the geometry may be iffy when using a 4wd kit on a 2wd. Like if 4wd coils are already 2" longer, a 4" kit for a 4wd may be 6" on a 2wd, so the pivot brackets need to be 2" lower. So you'd actually need 6" drop brackets and 4" coils, and a 6" pitman arm.
And some 2wd have different sway bar mounting.
if i may ask if your lifting it why not just get a lift kit for a 2wd, rough country has a six inch lift if thats what you want, also lmc truck is a tad sketchy for my liking, just sayin

I've heard about the LMC Truck sketchy-ness before, but seeing that info got my brain wheels turning. I'd love a 2wd kit, but finding one specific for an F250 2wd is a tall order to say the least.
So to further the speculation, the 2wd 150s and 250s should have the same bracketry more so than comparing 2wd to 4wd, right?!
Now you're mixing and matching lots of parts....
We both assumed you had an f150.
A 4wd lift for a 250 has leafs, not coils. So you're hoping that coils, brackets, and pivot drops will all work.
You're going to have to go measure a real truck to figure this out.
But now you're looking at parts and pieces from a few different kits.
yeah i suppose it "Could" be so, other than the fact that if you do the 150 parts are prolly going to be way weaker than the f250 parts, so basically you will have half ton towing capacity
Thanks for the info and links. Good conversation flow and I appreciate that. Towing capacity is not of great concern to me (got the truck for a good price) and I don't own a trailer or anything worth the 3/4 capacity. Thanks again guys!!!
