I will try and keep it short. 99 Ford Ranger 2wd 2.5l auto. Master cylinder was leaking so purchased one from NAPA. Bench bleed it, installed it bleed to all four wheels starting the farthest away and working closer. Pedal goes to the floor. Thought it was just a bad one so exchanged it for another and same process, pedal still goes to the floor the rear drums are adjusted properly, and at the same time I installed new rotor and pads in the front. I am at a loss. I find it had to believe I got two bad one in a row. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Well, to test the MC you could install the bench bleed hoses, crimp them closed with a vice grip, or the like, then try pumping the brake pedal & see if pressure will build. If no resistance is felt, suspect a faulty MC. If you feel a hard pedal, the MC is likely ok & maybe you either still have air in the lines, or still have excessive movement in the pads or shoes. Let us know what you find.
The front brakes are new rotors and pads and the rear drums had new shoes installed about six months ago and are properly adjusted. I have bled to all four wheels twice and have nice clean fluid coming out. I was thinking about doing just what you said and plug the holes and try the pedal like you said. Will let you know what happens. Thanks
I found out the hard way that some of NAPA's less expensive parts are total crap made in China. For instance, U-joints that last only 2,000 miles. If you buy at NAPA, make sure it's a reliable brand name.
