Trailer brake ?

I am working on my enclosed cargo trailer. 2 x 3500# ALKO axle. 10 x 2 1/4 electric brakes.

Brakes are getting worn. Question is are the Dexter assemblies the same? The whole assembly is way cheaper than the sum of the misc parts. The drums are shot. Worse where the magnet rides than where the shoes hit.

The big question would be fitment of the drum as the spindle would be the only thing that stayed. Yes the spindles are in good shape.

I have not done much searching, but this is the best price so far.

I could get by with magnets and drums but the $27 magnet comes with the $25 complete assembly.

Dexter also has auto-adjusting replacement "loaded" backing plates that bolt on, complete. Haven't used them yet, but I will be using them this summer in the same size you mentioned.

If you go this way, be sure to also order the 7/16" nuts and lock washers, as they come without those. Minor detail, but frustrating if you don't have them on hand.

I used the equivalent Dexter assemblies for surge brakes on our boat last year. Very easy to remove the old with the four bolts and, in my case, the hydraulic line, and simply replace.
I've done it both ways but for boats, changing out wheel cylinders are critical as these rust out, stick, and wear out the brakes prematurely. Dexter uses the domestic wheel cylinders, not import which cost three times more but are definitely worth it.
As noted, cheaper as complete assembly too.
