Windshield

My truck is due for inspection and needs a windshield. When I went to have it replaced I was told that there was too much rust where it met the roof and that that needed fixed first. The body shop then gave me an estimate for $1072 plus the $230 to replace the glass. Have any of you attempted to replace a windshield. I only paid 3000 for the truck when I bought it 6 months ago.

Sounds like they want to stick it to ya. Have you tried another glass place? It does seems like Jim rose had a rust problem like that too. I think he just fixed his himself though.

The glass place said he couldnt do it so i had to go to the body shop. I am friends with them so I know they arent ripping me off and that it will be done right but the truck is kind of a rust bucket so If i could do it myself and still have it seal well and not leak I would....I checked some other body shops but most of them said that they dont do rust repair anymore.
