Starting issue!

Starting issue!
After install of my JW trans I've had this problem. Occasionally I would have to lift up on the gear selector to get the truck to crank. Now it's gotten worse and almost left me stranded today. Is this the issue of tightening the screws in the column, or is it something further? Headed out camping tomorrow and trying to get this resolved.
