well with the early computer you may not have the capacity to go with a whole lot of horsepower, i dont know the exact limit but the early computers have a lower power limit than the mass air flow equipped motors

How or wheere do I find out what that limit would be
I have an 88 ford F150 with a 302 that generates a whopping 197hp.
A stock 5.0 of this vintage was rated at 185hp but after owning a few of them I'd be surprised if they made more than 150hp. You can get 250-275hp from it though and it's not that hard you just got to let it breath, and that involves swapping out the stock cam and all of the stock exhaust including the manifolds. Cam options include the Comp Cams 31-255-5 and several others and Summit Racing has a range of exhaust components you can use to make a custom setup or a simple bolt-on.

I have installed hedman headers with new exhaust including uninstalling the smog pump. Will I need to change more than just the cam to accomplish such? Is the comp cam 31-255-5 what u recomend
