Question question for webmaster

I read in the post by tankhead that the computer has to be programed for a mass air meter change.I always understood that aftermarket mass airs fools the computer with voltages into thinking that it still is the stock one installed, while letting more air in and adjusting the fuel ratio at the same time. I always believed that changing the meter without bigger injs was pointless. With larger injs also, i thought the mass air meter fooled the computer here again making it think the stock injs were there.I have been part of larger meters installed on late model mustangs and never have had to compensate for them in the ecu.Sorry about the long question, but i want to put a larger PRO-M mass air w/larger injs on my truck. But i am confused now Could you elaborate?

Thanks,
DARYL

If the MAF is calibrated for stock, then you can you use it on a stock vehicle without a problem. When adding a chip, we need to know if you have a MAF, and what it's calibrated for so we can make any needed adjustments. If the PRO-M is not calibrated for larger injectors you should get a chip that corrects the mixture.

Its all entirely dependent on getting the MAF calibrated correctly for the injectors. How well its calibrated will determine the results. The Microtuner is design with stock applications in mind so you may end up with too rich or lean a mixture meaning you'll need to get the vehicle dyno'd with a/f ratios and then get the MAF calibrated to correct the mixture.
