Missing Hose
Not sure why the previous owner removed the hose from the air filter to the PCV valve. Or at least that how I think it's originally supposed to be.
Any thoughts?
It appears now to run back into the rear of the carburator.
Edit: I guess this would be the breather hose?

The way they've got the PCV valve set up is fine. It goes from the valve cover (either the oil filler cap or a grommet) and back to the manifold vacuum source on the back of the carburetor. This is how it's supposed to be.
Your other valve cover, however, should have a breather filter. That's the picture you should be showing. The original setup ran the breather hose to the filter in the air cleaner. Since your metal line wants the PCV on the right but the air cleaner seems to want to breather on the right, something was swapped at some point. That's probably not the original air cleaner.

You want fresh air to be able to enter one side and dirty air sucked out the other. It looks like the fresh air used to be on the filler cap routed to the air cleaner. I see the hole taped up. Like FMC400 asked, whats on the other side? I would think that the PCV valve would go there and connected to the back of the carb or vacuum source..

Right (passenger) side valve cover: Smog valve inserts into rubber grommet.
Left (drivers) side valve cover: Oil cap has hole in it, rubber grommet fits into hole, plastic elbow (C8AZ-6767-A) inserts into grommet.
Hose routes from elbow on oil cap to elbow (384411-S) that attaches to crankcase ventilation filter.
D1AZ-9E628-B .. Clip-retains crankcase ventilation filter and elbow to air cleaner (see pic).
1973/76 F100/350 360/390 / 1977/79 F100/350 302/351M/400 similar.

Below is pic of other valve cover. Breather hose into the air cleaner as you guys said.
I'm thinking that either the air cleaner is actually for a 390 (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11353940)
Or the air cleaner assembly has been replaced with a "generic" cleaner that can fit multiple engines. Notice the "plug" on this image (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ml#post7248727). Or Ford used a more one-size fits all cleaner assembly?
Moral of story, everything is as it should be?

As long as the other side of that breather hose (inside the air cleaner) is a breather filter (which I would guess it is because I can see the clip), then you're all set.

Thanks, filter holder is there, but no filter! I'll add that to the list. I suppose it would be smart to remove the hose and make sure it's clean too.
