I've got a lead on a 1970 F250...as far as I know it's a "highboy" it's got a 360 with a 4speed np235 transmission.
The rear axle is a dana 60 and the front is a "closed knuckle" dana 44. He claims it has 4.10 gears from and rear...I've always been under the assumption that axles were generally the same for front and rear...am i wrong in thinking this?
rs, There are others much more up than me, but the front is mostly a roller, not a puller like the rear. I believe the combo is correct.
Don't know if you need a big truck, but 4.10s behind a 360 make a bulldozer with a very bad drinking habit. This is a 5-7 mpg truck on the hiway that will pull stumps all day long.
I believe the front will actually have 4.09 if the rear is 4.10. PartsDummy can back me up on this if he catches this thread. Difference being because one axle is a puller while the other is a pusher. Teeth ground opposite on the ring & pinions. As long as you stay out of 4X4 on solid ground it will never be a problem.
