Sorry for all the stupid pics and replies--I'm trying to do the pic thing and don't know how to do it--the pic with it in the barn, the hood and wheels are on the back bed-truck has surface rust only-doors bottoms are perfect, has the 8rt flathead v8 and floor shift trans--second pic is in my garage next to my 49 car--and guess what!!timing was good I bought truck 3/31/13-barn fell in Saturday 4/20/13
Thanks, Well I checked rearend backlash, trans is tight, kingpins are tight, steering gearbox tight-no play, all the sheet metal under truck look new,and for all these reasons-I have a running 8rt flathead v8(same as original) that's going back in,-so going back original. Same as the 49 car-it is all original-believe it or not, also rust free.Short story about truck-I worked at this Ford dealer when I was 16 yrs old-worked there 12 yrs,the truck was bought new here and went to forest Ohio to his dads farm. His dad pasted away in 89 -and the truck came back to Farmersville Auto(Ford dealer)and went into the barn-until I bought it.So I worked at the dealer-new his dad,and knew of the truck, but never thought of it until I saw the barn coming down around it-and had to rescue it.--so the writing on th doors says DOCHOLM FARMS FOREST OHIO. Hope this not too boring Thanks ,John
Hey John,
Thanks for posting the pics. It's nice to see an old '50 in it's original condition. Our '50 was "updated" in the '70's so we had a lot of undoing to get it back in shape. I'm not sure those turn signals on top of the fenders are original. We ended up using the those little lights in the grill area for our turn signals.
Good luck over there - I really like the flat bed - it looks nice & you don't see that too often at least down here in Texas.
Hey Joe,
Thanks - I've seen them but more as an after market add-on
from the 60's. Good to know - Our '50 didn't have much original to it -
I think it was mostly '68 Mustang. (Love your truck).

I know this is an old thread...
John, if you are still getting notifications from FTE, get back on here and tell us about your truck now. give us an update.

Sounds like Abe is getting sucked down a rabbit hole of old threads. Actually not a bad place to be. Now I want to know what has happened on the truck.

You are correct! It rained all day. I couldn't work outside and was bored. I was looking for Ford flatbed stakes and a bunch of FTE related threads popped up. So I did enter the rabbit hole.
