firewall covers

I know that Mid-50 and others offer some nice SS firewall covers (outside cover) but I'm wondering if any of you have fabbed your own ??

did you use steel sheet or aluminum ?? how did you attach it to the firewall

and AFA routing wiring and such thru it ??? under it ???

how much gap between f.w. and the cover ???

I've to a firewall mounted booster/mc but I believe I can work around that

ideas ?? opinions ?? offers to help ?? patterns ??

Nope, just cut out the PO modified panels and replaced them with fresh sheet metal.

I made a pattern from poster board then took it to the local steel company. They cut out the basic shape and I did the fine tuning. It is spaced out 3/8" from the firewall. Twenty bucks and a little paint and there you go.
