Temp Sender 1952 Ford 215cu Six

My 52 Ford F1 is running a 12v system. Has new gauges. I was not getting a temperature reading and realized I was still using the 6v coolant sending unit. Switched to a 12v sender. My gauge now reads 150 when cold and quickly pegs the gauge. The motor is not running hot. I saw similar thread with the 8 cylinder motor but no resolution. Would appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks

You need to use your original 6v sender, and cut the voltage down that goes to it. Read some of these:

Is this true even if the gauges are new 12v units?

Do you mean Modern, aftermarket gauges? If so then no CVR is needed, just matching senders and gauges.

I called the gauge manufacturer. Was told I need to use their sender. Have one on the way. Thanks for the help.

What should the temperature of the coolant be in this engine. According to my gauge now working with the right sender I am running about 190 degrees.

That's fine, you want the engine about that to keep the oil from collecting water, and for best economy.
