So I have recently acquired a 1969 ford e200 cargo van.
I want to lower it a little bit. I was looking in the rear and there is no way i can do an axle flip or the van would be riding on the axle with no suspension. how does everyone slam these things?
I'm pretty sure you have to tub it. Not just the wheel wells but all the way across. Or swap in a Subaru engine and lower the body relative to the floor.
That's what I was afraid of. And in the front just drop beams will work? I Don't know where to get them form. I have looked everywhere but no one seems to sell drop beams for an old van.
There are no drop beams for them, the 92 and up have some available, you could lower it a little with a shorter coil, but will require a big truck company to bend the I-beams to correct the camber, it's just not worth it. The 69-74 sat just perfect as is, I like mine, yet I need to bag the rear to stiffen it for my wheelchair lift use, it broke down the right side.
I like the way it sits i just have seen some that are lower and look great.
it sounds like a lot of work to drop it a few inches. I think I'll just make it my moto van. Put some chocks in it and put two bikes in it and hit the desert.
The E-100 might sit lower, but has smaller brakes, I like how my 73 sits, I just have to redo the suspension in the rear, as it's wore out, and perhaps some wider tires on the stock steel rims, with baby moon caps.
