lug nuts

I have a new to me 02 F150 harley davidson that can't keep air in one of the tires, so today I attempted to take the lugs off. One of the lugs was a "locked" lug, and not having the proper tool to take it off with I headed to the tire shop. I got a tool from the guy and went home and tried it on the locked lug, it fit real nice so I put some muscle into the lug wrench and stripped alll the teeth off the lug. Don't know what to do now. The wheel is a 20in and will adapt to just about any bolt pattern, the lug sits back in a hole and you can only get a narrow, deep socket into the hole. I was thinking about chisling the lug off but can't get the chisle on the side of the nut because of it sitting in the hole. any suggestions. I took a pic of the nut, don't know if it will help or not.

Well, I think you're in a pickle, and the only way out is death by drilling. Your big advantage in this situation is the dimple in the center of the wheel stud. I'd start with a 3/16" or ¼" drill bit and go progressively larger until you just start to cut the threads of the nut off (don't go so deep as to damage the wheel, though, and make sure you hold the drill square and plumb). Patience is the key here.

Then off to the parts store for a new wheel stud and (hopefully non-locking) lug nut.

More experienced wrenches insert suggestions here...

patspos, thanks for the reply, haven't been able to do anything as the trucks sitting outside and we've had about 4in of rain in the past week, so it'll be awhile. I figured I would ruin the stud getting it off, I thought of using a air chisel but I'm limited to so little space to work because of the recessed lugs.

possibly a die grinder with a carbide burr will help if drill bits wont cut it.

Might want to try a Irwin brand bolt-grip extractor. I know northern tools have them also have seen them at advance auto I believe. Northern tool item number is 962238. Work real well have used it often. just a thought should get in the tight spot you are working with.

forgot about this post, never did get the tire and rim off the truck ended up jacking the truck up and spraying the tire with soapy water as I turned it, and found a small hole that I put a plug into, and now it holds air. Also sold the truck. Thanks for everyones input, luv this forum.
