Hello, I am looking to trade my jeep to this guy for his 2008 F250 lariat with 89,000 miles. Everything is stock besides the 35 toyos and CAI, use to have a H&S programmer on it. The reason I am posting this, is I was wondering if I need to worry about this truck having lots of problems when it's in my hands?
Do not know much about diesel trucks yet, so any advice is welcome!
I don't have an diesel because I don't use it for work and they are more expensive to maintain than gas. Especially repairs can be costly once its out of warranty. Othert than that I love diesels
What engine? What transmission? 2 or 4 wheel drive? ESOF or manual 4 wheel drive? Regular Cab, Super Cab or Crew Cab? What "Job Number" is the truck? (Early '08s were Job 1. Job 2 trucks had some improvements)
Why are you interested in this truck? Do you intend to tow with it?
As a daily driver and a Jeep replacement, these trucks are not awesome. Fuel mileage pretty much sucks across the board, and they are so big and heavy they make poor trail rigs compared to a Jeep CJ, but as an all around tow rig or hauling rig you won't get any better. Because of the weight involved, these vehicles also require more maintenance than your average F-150. Those of us who use them for daily drivers accept the down sides of driving these trucks.
Give us the specifics on the truck and we can discuss other issues and things to look for.
Modern diesels have changed a lot, there's a lot more to be aware of and pay attention to, and when something breaks you'd better have deep pockets. But they have plenty of power.
