That's fine. Don't worry about it. Most manufacturers even say that up to a quart every thousand is acceptable for new cars, and some even say 600 miles. The quart to 600 miles is a lot, and I might worry about that kind of consumption no matter what the age of the car. With older vehicles (such as yours), I wouldn't worry about it until it gets worse than a quart every thousand. Could be some valve seal and piston ring wear. There's no magic formula to fixing piston ring clearance.
My '73 460 (7.5L) burns a quart every 800 miles, and you never see a single bit of smoke driving down the road.
Sure. Glad to help. Oil consumption isn't an issue (unless you can visibly see it burning oil all the time) as long as you don't let it run low on oil and damage the engine.
