Lifting my ranger...

The Powertrax Lock Rite and No Slip are both designed for street use, as well as off-road. The No Slip is supposed to be a little better for street use, but they both work the same way. They allow your outside wheel to spin faster through turns, but after the turn the teeth re-align and both wheels are locked together again.

Check out www.powertrax.com for more info.

They run between $300-420, depending on the model, but IMO, it was worth every penny! No more one wheel peel!

Lifting my ranger...

I was checking out the powertrax site... and i printed out a PDF file on Ford brand cars/trucks axle specs... and i was lookin at the ranger section of it and i cant find where my truck would fit under. i take that back, i can see where the front axle fits under, but that isnt what im concerned about. I have a '99 4.0L ranger ... and for rear axle i see 1983 - 2000 FORD; 7.5"rg; 28 Spline count; 10 cover bolts; but only for the 2.5, 2.9, and 3.0L engines.... mine aint there anyone know if a 99 4.0L ranger would have an 8.8" or 7.5" rear axle ?

I think I am going to go with the advice from all of you guys and get a locker. Also gonna go with the 5.5" lift... not sure what brand yet. I will probably take my truck offroading just casually, not all the time.

Thanks.

all rangers with 4.0 engines have the 8.8 28spline.

note: this does not include new packages like the fx4.

Lifting my ranger...

i have a 4x2 99 ex-cab ranger too my lift was cheap but well done. i added 2" to the front w/ coil spacers and 2" in the back w/ add-a-leafs. below that a 3" block and gained 2.5" more up fron w/ new coils for 5 total inchesw/ no other serious mods. 33" fitt well w/ articulation but add a 2" or 3" body lift and you could put even 35"tires but would require new shocks. I've done the homework already, i'll let you cheat a bit

does anyone know if the lift kits come with the equipment to realign you drive train. This is always overlooked when lifting, lowering, leveling your truck. I cant find any kit that comes with the hardware for this task.
