Transmission Help
Hi There from down under
Firstly.... our thoughts are with the people in the Boston Explosions.
Our problem does not really compare ........... we have a 2003 F250 SD 7.3Auto 4x4 towing a 5'ver , all up weight of 9 tonne incl truck & trailer.Just about to climb the last hill to our campsite when it lost all drive. Fluid level is correct ( red in colour ) did not smell too bad . manual shift into1st .... nuthin.... 2nd nuthin ....... drive had enough to get it off the road and it shifted up doing this. Have checked main plug on trans , checked shift cable was secure, when restarted OD light stopped flashing but went to move it and it would only go forward a bit and stop. The factory trans cooler has been swapped out for 2 large aftermarket ones and these have been fitted to the very front of all the radiators etc . We had been climbing hills that had the trans shifting down to 1st and down the other side I was manually shifting to 2nd to hold the old girl back as well as using the brakes. Is there any thing else I could check/ adjust to make this go again or is it toast as we are stranded in the middle of the bush.
Could not find any numbers on trans but it did have " Matric " on the sump pan . How many different transmissions did this model have ??? looked like there was a place for a plate just behind the cable controller

The only transmission that it could be is the 4R100.
Did you check the fluid level warmed up with the engine idling in park? If not, check it again.
There is nothing electrical that could cause this. There is nothing adjustable on the transmission. It works or it doesn't. If it has enough fluid when checked warmed up idling in park and it still won't go, then something mechanical broke inside.

not too many parts for these in NZ so have been looking on E bay and seen this "

Are these kits any good or are there better that I can get shipped over please
