Last week i was checking fluids in my 94 f150 2wd with the 302 and noticed my coolant reservoir was empty...i filled it to the fill line and thought i was goodto go. I checked my fluids yesterday and it was empty again i filled it up this morning before i left for school, drove 5 miles to school and guess what NO COOLANT...it doesnt overheat, the heat still blows nice and hot (not that i need it) and i cant see anything dripping from anywhere. WHERE IS IT GOING?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I had the same problem with mine. I eventually found hairline crack in the bottom of the radiator which was dripping on the frame underneath the radiator, which is why I never saw any coolant on the ground. When I took the radiator out I noticed it had a LOT of mud in it, so what I think might have happened is when that mud froze over the winter it might have caused it to crack.
Why would i lose it that fast? Though if im burning
it and wouldn't a cracked radiator cause me to have overheating issues?
Mine went on for awhile before I found the leak, and it never had any overheating issues. But like I said, mine was just a hairline crack that slowly leaked out. The reservoir was always empty, but the radiator always had enough coolant in it to keep it from overheating.
Are you adding coolant directly to the radiator, or just filling the overflow? You need to fill and bleed the system and pressure check it. You could have a leaking radiator, water pump, timing cover gasket, intake gasket, etc.
The radiator only has a pressure cap...i filled the overflow one more time and the whining i thought was my alternator stopped (must have been the water pump) and i havent had a problem so far and i drove 50 miles...guess we will see tomorrow...gotta find that leak

Look for your leak at the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump (behind the pulley)
That whining sounds like a bad bearing, so the seal can't be far behind!!!
plus, there most likely is a crack in the overflow bottle. you check coolant by filling the radiator when cold, not filling the overflow bottle.
you can have a full overflow and an empty radiator.
if the bottle is always empty, but the radiator is always full, don't worry about it.
the bottle in my 88 has had a hole in it for the past 300,000 miles.bottle is always empty, and the radiator is always full.
where do i fill the radiator? i can only find a pressure relief cap that wont come completely off. i filled the bottle 3 times before it finally started staying full. i think since i just turned 140k its probably time to change the water pump. especially if i have been running it low on coolant and burned up the bearings (probably why its whining at me) i still cant find a leak anywhere though
