Hey yall. I spend most my time in the 80~86 form but i need some ideas.
My bud has a truck. Sadly i dont know the year or vin right now. Its a 4.6 150 4x4. He had a general tune up done at a garage (not ford. we dont have a dealer near us). Plugs, wires, i guess cap and rotor. I havent messed with one of these newer ones. Anyway 2 days after the tune up the truck is down to 1 cylinder power he says. It wont power over a speed bump. No crack no clang no pop no boom. He said it just lost power. Have any of yall experienced or heard of this?
Any ideas of what i should check. Its got about 219k on it. Id like to fix it but he is not against dropping a new engine in either.
Thanks for any help you can give.
This third party diagnostics it not going to work well.
If cylinders are out there has to be codes involved or he is giving you way wrong info.
Check for fuel pressure.
Good luck.
No sir. I was just wondering if any 4.6 owners had seen, heard of, or knew about this happening. Maybe share their experience. I didnt get to do anything today because of the rain.
Are you beginning to see the waist of time getting to the issue the motor has, doing it this way without any accurate info.
Such as, it won't pull itself and no codes or anything to go on!
I know I sound a little snarky but you have to get the picture.
You ever go to your doctor and just tell him you hurt?
Think he might at least ask where, for a start?
Wow. Nothin like i expected.
Im not askin for a diagnosis. Not askin for a where to begin. Im not some jack leg wantin someone 1000 milez away to teach me to work on cars. I just wondered if anyone ever heard of or seen this. Maybe a tsb was issued for a left blinker fluid reservoir and without that being fixed the discombobulator for the right handed valve stem on the spare tire would cut down on the fuel pressure at the rail.
Ill work my way through to my own diagnosis. Its just not my truck and i dont have experience with this particular engine.
