Yeah, we made our own when I was teaching at Sequoia Institute, before it became part of Wyotech. I made mine with .015"' wire on one end and .030" wire on the other. the handle was made from some cheap aluminum tubing. Any hobby shop should have the K&S wire rack to get the wire from.
Think I got in a hurry and forgot to replace these. They are the original looking orange teflon seals and the ones in the kit are steel so ......my fault. Hope this fixes it.
Houston ..we have a problem....... Ok went to put in the steel rings but they will not slide in the two grooves the teflon ones came out off. Not tight but not slide in at all and yes I made sure these were the right size. The other steel ones go in nice and smooth. Any ideas?

If they don't fit the groove width, they are the wrong ones, regardless as to what was printed on any packaging they came in.
Take your pump and forward clutch housing with you when you go to get new sealing rings. I've seen this before with generic fleabay kits.
Went ahead and ordered the teflon ones from a transmission shop so we'll try again this weekend.
Use your assembly paste (fancy vaseline) to stick those rings to the center support. lube inside the drum before you assemble and test with air as soon as the gearset is in and the pump is torqued.
You do realize, once your Ford friends find out you have successfully been through an E4OD, you are going to be the "Go To" guy for transmission repairs?
Better to play it off . . . "Well, it shifts hard, slips a bit too, etc, etc." Don't let on you know about transmissions. Everyone is your friend if it gets out.
You've got a very good point there Ray....lol I got it all back together and did the air test and got a nice clear thump for the forward clutch pack this time....no hissing. Having lunch right now and then back to put it back in the truck and see how she goes. Anyway thats the update for now.
SHOUT IT FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOP.......IT RUNS.....lol Well I did it. A little tuning on the motor and I think she'll be good. Only issue is it wants to cut off when I put it in R now. I may have messed a sensor or something up. Gonna check on here and see but any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for everyones help and advise on here for this.
