Fuel system problems
I have a 1996 F350 7.3 Powerstroke diesel that started one day to just die on me like it ran out of fuel. Would restart but would only go 50 feet or so before shutting off again. Had it towed home, replaced the fuel filter started truck and let it idle for 45 min but when I went to rev the engine to 2500rpm it maintained it only for a couple of seconds before shutting down abruptly. You can let it sit for a few minutes and it will start up but as soon as you rev the engine it dies. Replaced the air filter but it did no good. Was told that there was a micro-filter at the bottom of the fuel pump at the end of the fuel line if this is so how do I replace it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IF it shuts off abruptly like turning the key off then my bet is on cps.IF it starts running badly then dies it could be fuel related.either way Check fuel pressure and codes to diag or just throw parts at it. no micro filter that I have seen unless its SO small a person cant even see it. There IS a screen on the side of the fuel bowl at the regulator that periodically needs cleaned.Maybe that is what was meant,but its not real small.
