Replacing PCM on 03 exp?

I have been working off and on for the past few weeks trying to narrow down multiple issues with my truck that all came up at the same time, I have checked all grounds and connections for corrosion. I came across a spare pcm for very cheap and I want to try it to see if that is where my problems actually is.

My question is does the new pcm need to be programmed to this truck specifically? The part number and most of the other number on the new pcm match exactly. I have the new pcm installed right now and I can turn the key on and all the electronics work, it just wont turn over. I think these keys may have a sensor in them also? When the key is turned on the alarm lights blinks rapidly.

Tow it to a dealer so they can program it for PATS function.

You cannot just slap a PCM (or a cluster) into your truck and expect it to work as the PATS won't allow the engine to start.

The keys, the cluster, and the PCM in your truck all have to be "married" to each other.

I had heard that before, I just wasnt thinking about it on this truck. I do have a friend from Ford that can hopefully make it out to my house to get the new pcm programmed. Thanks for the quick reply.
