I went to the mechanic yesterday. He is a senior ford mechanic that opened his own shop. He can not look at the truck till the 29th. So I went and got some coils, plugs and a save a thread kit. I replaced a few coils and fixed retapped a plug thread. One plug # 5 gave me a code but I can not get it out. I can get to it though it is a PIA but can not see the nut part. It has a new coil with is working (checked for spark) but can not replace the plug. I am going to try and hammer a socket on it next.
The truck still smokes a bit and burns a lot of oil. Radiator fluid is at the same lvl as always. My driver side 02 sensor is still reading very low but it is brand new.
What should I check next, Compression? I do have a tapping noise on the driver side as well. I am ready to tear the heads and get them honed, new push rods and valves. What would the more experienced do?

I have some good news, I ground a spark plug socket to an edge and got it to catch a little of the spark plug then tapped it down and got plug #5 out. when i got it out is had crusted on dirt all over the top which explains why the socket would not go on it. cleaned out the hole popped a new plug and coil (motercraft) and the truck runs much better. when i do a live data on the 02 sensors sometimes they check out ok, sometimes one is real low and the next test the other side is low and the other is fine.
Here is another issue. the truck smokes. I am assuming check compression.

big lesson learned for me this go around. I could not wait till the 29th to bring my truck to a highly recommended mechanic so I bit the bullet and took it to my local ford dealer. The tech got in the truck put the brake on and stepped on the gas and instantly knew the problem. he took it to his bay, plugged it in, stepped on the gas n brake again and told me it was #7. Then I told him about my possible vac leak. he looked at my vac lines and said "what a train wreck" and continued to disconnect lines and reconnect the lines in the proper order. total time took was 10 minuets. I went back to the service area to settle up and the guy said "no charge" I was stoked. I went home changed the plug n coil and she runs good. this was a long time coming. I ordered a party pizza and brought it over to the service dept, cost me $24. bucks.
Ty again for all the advice, it was much appreciated. If I could I would get yall pizza too.
