Scan gauge 2

Noticed the last couple of morning my scan gauage 2 seems to be off a little. Yesterday air temp was in upper 40s SC2 eot and ect was equal temps in upper 70s.....This morning air temp is 52 and Sc2 started in upper 80s. These numbers are after a 10 hour cool down....Daily driving the last cpl of days it seems to be running way higher than normal....Did a lil towing yesterday nothing major or for any distance got up to and stayed around 212 air temp near 80.....Also noticing the Ects are higher than the Eots around 8 degress or so....... Drove this morning, about a mile idled about 7 or 8 mins drove a mile back to the house EOTs 184 and ECT 192 when parked....This after 10 hour soak with the above temps. Is my scanner going bad or is my truck going nuts??????

Leave it sit for more than 10 hours.

You need to get the truck warmed up before checking temps. Short distance drives won't tell you anything substantial.

Totally normal, the Coolant warms up (and cools down) FASTER. Thus UNTIL completely warmed up the Coolant IS hotter than the Oil. AND until BOTH temps are ~190* the delta is meaningless. Enjoy your PSD...

What are the condition's of that spread? Sound's pretty scary, no matter the condition's. I'm thinking you are on borrowed time with that oil cooler.
Edit: What are your spread's after a cold soak? Should be around a degree or two. Maybe, your sender's are bad.

You should start a new thread so more people will see it and respond. I would want to get this figured out.

Did you turn the ignition key on to check those temps? Sounds like the SG was still reading the temps when you turned it off last.......

True, BUT only once engine is fully warmed up AND the oil temp is HIGHER than coolant.

For example,
Having coolant higher than oil by 25* (eot: 140 vs ect: 165) idling in cold weather is not a concern

^^^ Agreed.

Starting in upper 80's with a 52* ambient sounds a little flakey. May be outside temp dropped quickly in the am, or as BPofMD said it hadn't connected yet and was still displaying info from before shut down. Check EOT, ECT and trans temp after a long cold soak. They should be within a couple of degrees of each other. Unlikely all three go out of wack at the same time.
