Cap Interchange

Will a cap from a 79 F-150 properly fit a 75 F-150 ?

um.... first of all what size motor? both vehicles with same motor also?

If you're talking about the fiberglass canopy for over the bed, yes it will fit if it is longbox to longbox and shortbox to shortbox.

actually it really doesn't matter which motor...whether the 4.9, 5.0, 5.8, 6.6, or the 7.5 liters..... none interchange from '75-'79.... '79 caps only as far back as '77

oh yeah... i forgot about the "body" caps. What I am refering to above are the distributor caps.... lol thanks Normmus

Distributor cap from 351m/400 will interchange to a 429/460. Other than that I am not real sure. I guess 360/390 interchange too. The small block stuff I am not sure on.

Box diminsions are the same, but i am not aware as to how they are affixed to the truck. you could get it to work on a 73-96

If you are talking about a shell be sure to check the angle where shell hits cab. I believe the 73-79 cab angle is different, so it may fit the bed bit not align properly with the cab.

Just re-read the original post.........as others have already pointed out 79 to 75 is same bed same cab will fit fine as long as it was actually made to fit the 79. I have looked at several that "came off of a ....." but never really fit that truck either so didn't matter what it came off of.
