I've got a 302 Windsor and it needs more hp. I'm getting a edelbrock 4 barrel intake manifold, I need a good 4 barrel carb if anyone knows what I need, please let me know. Also I want to bump up the hp to about 500 (Ive heard 302's can't handle over 550) so if anyone can help or tell me Exactly what I need to get that'd be great. Oh and I'm also getting some hedman headers.
500HP from a 302 isn't going to happen without spending a ton of money on a bunch of parts. A stock 302 block is rated for 450HP not 550HP. The only stock Ford 302 block that would hold up would be the Boss 302 block. The B50 or the Mexican blocks are supposed to be a bit stronger then the average 302 block but not by much.
To build a 500 HP 302 is going to require either very high RPM, like 8000 or a super charger or a Turbo changer. You will need some big port heads and an intake to match.
