I have a 95 Aerostar and the brake lights were not working. I replaced the brake light switch and now the pedal has to travel almost to the floor before the lights will turn on. Is there some kind of adjustment??
Don't know about Aerostars, but in general the switch for the brake light is near the brake pedal and almost always it is adjustable.
You would need to adjust the switch so that it is activated when the pedal is pushed maybe an inch or so. Push the pedal with your hand and use a good light and you will see what I mean.
Going all the way to the floor does sound odd though. I am not sure the switches are adjustable enough to go that far before activating. I wonder if the brakes on an Aerostar are activated by the ABS controller? But that would be doing it the hard way I would think, or it actually may be the cheap way since no separate switch would be needed.
Thanks for your reply. The vehicle does not have ABS. I called Ford and they said that there is no adjustment but of course they want you to come in and spend $$.
