heres a quick update on the truck.. it's got nearly 2k miles on the new engine.. and it's now around 7k on the new trans. both are doing amazing.
the Speed Density setup is slightly better than it was originally after the engine was installed.. so it does learn.. if i had 1.6 roller rockers the truck may be ok on speed density. but im keeping the 1.72's.
the rear end is gonna need a rebuild before to long.. it has a small whine at times. fluid is full and good.. checked that at work a few days ago. already knew the limited slip clutches were toast..
removed the decals off the rear window for the performance parts.. tired of haters arguing with me about what i have and what i dont have.. the decals are still on the truck and you'll see below where.. it's a neat not thought of spot. really neat for car shows.
ABDOLUTELY LOVE IT!
Nice spot for the decals. Did you paint your upper plenum?
(I use the mobile app so I can't see details of what you got in there besides what your decals say)

thanks yeah the valve covers, and upper intake and oil pan are all painted with high heat glossy black.. came out awesome. it's just stock truck intake with tons of port work done to it. sitting on top of Trick flow Track heat 170cc/58cc heads, comp cam 35-349-8 camshaft, scorpion 1.72 roller rockers, pacesetter headers, NGK FR-5 plugs, MSD streetfire coil and cap and rotor, ford Racing 9mm plug wires, all on a remmaned shortblock..

But darn nice engine bay. Makes me wanna wash mine.
Why didn't you do a stroker or a 351 swap. You have some nice heads to support some more fun...
Your truck looks like a grownup version of my turbo 2.3 ranger stepside. Even the side exit exhaust.
300/460 snorkel dont really do much.. i dont see a need.. did it last truck, i didnt really feel as though there was any difference..
reason for not going stroker.. budget.. wasnt in the budget at this time. my complete short block assembled was only 850 AFTER shipping.. a stroker kit is that alone, plus machine work on the block and balancing the stroker kit.. not in the budget.. this build was 3500 from having nothing, to having it in the engine bay fired.. this includes all fluids, paints, bolts, water pump, radiator hoses, plugs, plug wires, engine mounts, Harmonic balancer. plus the short block, heads, cam, roller rockers, headers, push rods, lifters.
a stroker will be in the future just not sure how far in the future..
reason for 351, wanted to stay semi original, this truck was stock with a 5.0.. so i wanted to stay based on the 5.0.
plus its such a light truck a 5.0 is fine for it..
since you had all that work done the engine bay looks great! but i've got a question or two for you. i would love to finish off and get rid of my remaining smog parts, namely the egr, TAB & TAD solenoids, and all plumbing/wiring associated. what did you have to do so you didn't throw a CEL? also, since you got rid of the coffee can, what did you have to do to those vacuum lines? any help would be appreciated. (oh, i already started by deleting the smog pump and plugged the back of my heads)
I have a check engine light on from removing that stuff.. But just yank out all the vacuum lines going to that stuff and solenoids and plug any ports that are left..
