I've searched the forum for info on these springs but wasn't able to find anything on these particular ones, just cutting springs. From what I've read about alignment with drops I may already know the answer, but not positive.
Belltech lists 2 inch drop springs (#4800) for '87-'96 F150, mine is an '85. Moog lists replacements for '85 and '87 as the same number, and Belltech can't tell me if there is a reason that their springs aren't listed for '85.
Lastly, at 2 inches are they going to make alignment impossible? I understand they are difficult to align in stock form, but figured if they made them for these trucks there must be some reason. I really didn't want to go with the drop I beams simply because of the cost, but if the springs are going to be a nightmare I would sooner do it right the first time. Thanks in advance
The springs on my '83 1/2 ton were so worn that when I replaced them with Moog Replacements it RAISED the truck nearly two inches. I'd imagine with a 2" drop spring, you'd need to get different camber adjusters for the upper ball-joints to correct for the negative camber you'll encounter. The adjusters on my 2WD are non-eccentric, meaning they don't actually adjust anything when you turn them, so you'd need ones that have an off-centered hole (eccentric) to allow you to adjust camber.
I don't know this for fact, but since the 4x 1/2 ton trucks and 2x 3/4 tons sat taller, they MIGHT have eccentric adjusters to correct for the positive camber of the taller springs. Also, I'm sure they're easily available, TTB Fords have had camber issues since the first set of springs installed on one got worn down.
