A used hitch for an excursion is nearly impossible to find in good shape(this one is in great shape) since they are a painnnnn to remove(due to the rivets) and are fairly expensive if purchased new. This hitch will only fit an excursion due to the angle it has when bolted to the frame; in addition this hitch is constructed of larger tubing than what is found on the pickups since it protects the fuel tank in the event of an impact from the rear.

All components except hitch will also fit Ford Superduty F250 and F350 trucks/vehicles from 1999-2007.

Anyone here modify or retro fit a hitch from a super duty? Doesnt look that hard to do.

 

Since I stumbled upon this thread, I'm updating it for others who might be searching.

Looks like Curt now makes a hitch for the Excursion:

So, there is at least one aftermarket replacement available now. I don't have one, so I can't comment on quality, install, etc.

 

Yes, Curt is now making an Excursion specific hitch! I have one in the garage waiting to go in in the spring. They just started this summer. Picked it up from auto anything for approx. $130 with free shipping. the quality looks really good too!

 

My thread on the Curt Hitch

In my opinion the instructions stink. Plan to drop the gas tank to do it right. Get 18mm grade 10.9 nuts x 8 and a couple 18mm bolts (forget the length) along with 8 lock washers/flat washers.

Easy install if you get the tank off though. Have a 200 ft/lb capable torque wrench handy to do the final tightening (unless you have god like skills like at least one person here claims to have).

You will need an air chisel/cut off wheel to get the original out.
