hey guys looking at getting a tranny for my 78 f250 for a zf5 swap. located this parts truck, but the guy keeps saying it's a e40d 5 speed manual. i asked him to clarify since only thing i've seen about e40ds is that they're automatic. i think he has a zf5 it's a 94 f350 4x4. the link below is to the ad.
i asked again and he said it's a 5 speed manual transmission. unless someone swapped in a 5 speed at some point, and left the automatic info on the body plate, guess that's a possibility. Asked him to send me a pic of the interior.

If your bolting it to a 460 from a 460 you should be okay, the biggest challenge will be plumbing in the M.C and hooking up the clutch pedal. I'm doing a chassis swap from a 78 to a 89 and will be doing my brakes, clutch and steering column starting on next wed. I have some pics in my garage but nothing of real value in that dept yet.
Well I'm planning to put it with my 400, and rig it up for a mechanical clutch, been following several threads on the topic here, and it can be done.
There is a problem in the thickness in flywheels if I remember right and where the starter engages the ring gear .. There are some threads here which address the issue and how it was overcome .. Don't have time to look but you should be able to find the info ok
The thread you need to check out is "dads Zf5 swap" by Gary Lewis. Its a long thread but it details the whole adventure. Or you can skip the first 14 pages and ask to p.m. him. The last I knew he was on vacation with the truck.
