OK...my 73 f 100 4x4 has the no spark after running nightmare. I am in the process of getting this truck on the road, I haven't even driven it yet.
After the truck seems to be running just fine, SOMETIMES after you turn it off it will not start up. After it has sit it fires right back up. SO i figured brainbox. I put an msd box in it and pro billet dist. it still does the same thing. I did the msd spark test, and that worked. I have spark from coil wire, but not from the plug wires. almost everything is new, Battery, wires, coil,Battery cables, volt reg, ign switch, I added ground cable from motor to frame. I am about fed up with this thing, any Ideas on what could STILL be causing this? I am about out of ideas Thanks
also make sure the contact button on the inside center of the distributer is there...sometimes they "disappear/fall off" even on new ones...before you put it on the engine and this can cause problems

Make sure the coil is hooked up propperly. Check resistance of the coil wire.
Did you ground the motor to the cab as suggested in the other post? That ones a pretty important ground. If the motor and cab is grounded to the frame it should be okay as long as they are good clean connections but I'd still run one to the firewall from the engine..
so do you have spark at the end of the coil wire ALL the time?? Then no spark to the wires??
yes coil spark is always good, nothing coming out from dist, Im thinking maybe mag pickup. I did an ohm test to the pickup on the dist, and it was within msd specs, after it quit running I did another ohm test, would not register anything on the multimeter

What is a good part of the cab to use for a mounting point?
I have seen this once on a 351/400/460 MSD distributor. It was actually that the distributor had it's own ignition module in it and it didn't need a module hooked up, only the power/ground wires and a coil. We tried hooking it up with all kinds of stuff but never any spark to the plugs. It turned out that it was a distributor that needed just ground and like 12 volts or something to run. What is the distributor you are using? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-8595
If your running the duraspark 2 I'd check the wiring connection on the distributor to the wiring harness. A couple years ago I had the same problem and it ended up being that the ground wire on the connection was coming out.
Also check the condition of the wires to your coil, could be getting hot or melted or possibly frayed. Now when you go to restart it does the truck turn over? Does it try to hit when your turning it over? Does it crank slow?
