generations and experiences

Just as CB's were boring and overpopulated with the more questionable segments of our society---remember when cussing over the air was VERY frowned upon---and I'm sure sooner or later everything outlasts its public interest or use. Myself I can NOT wait until so much of those "social media" sites go away!
My wife and daughter both live in their Facebook-generated virtual "realities" - every once in a while, I'm able to peel them away from that, but then they eventually go back. Because of this, I had to reactivate my long-dormant Facebook account just so I'd have some way to communicate with them and other family members when I move out of state...
I don't tweet - we have a parakeet that makes enough "tweets" for us. I don't know what this Pinterest thing is about and don't care. Google+ ?, no thanks...

She thinks I spend too much time here. What did we do, as a society, before all these modern conveniences? We spoke to them face-to-face or at least called them instead of posting on FB or texting them.....
I've "met" people who are absolutely addicted to their electronic tethers, have junkie-like withdrawals when they're even temporarily removed--or worse yet no reception.

I don't know if its sad, pathetic or just another example of creeping giving up one's privacy but the recent upheavals of employers, existing or potential, demanding employees give their passwords up so anything they've posted can be read. (I'm shocked the ACLU hasn't been more upfront or vocal about that----has to be something in the Constitution making such practices illegal?)
Speaking of being outdoors back in the old days weather permitting staying inside was just NOT tolerated---heck even in school we were tossed outside twice a day, mayhem ensued of course. Summer time we'd do nothing but "run the streets" politely albeit not too quiet and honestly so much of what I learned then and enjoy to this day were fostered and formulated back then.
An old tire was a play thing, finding an old baby buggy with great wheels and axles kept two or more of us busy a whole week, making a go kart that typically crashed when one of us exceeded our ability to drive it!

I also recall Mom coming into my room during the summer no later than 8am telling me it was time to go, get the heck outta her house and DO something! A ride anywhere wasn't in the cards unless we rode a bike--walking was as good as anything.
Gosh I miss those days---gonna go update my Facebook with it all now!

^^(Completely kidding!)
I've plowed behind a mule.
We did our own slaughtering on the farm.
Deer hunting was for food. Also hunted squirrels and other small game.
Needless to say with a hand pump for water you know that the toilet was an outhouse.
