33" tires that are narrow will fit with no modifications. Maybe narrow 35" tires will too. However, if you have wider tires (12.5" or so) you will have problems turning at full lock. The inside of the tires will rub the springs at full lock. To get around this, you get rims that are a higher offset so the tire sticks out more and gets away from the springs.
Ok i think its starting to make more sense to me. Did ford make any aluminum 8 bolt wheels? Kinda trying to stay as stock as possible but would like to find some other wheels other than the steel wheels. Or what wheels will fit it? Something I can find in the salvage yard.
I'm not sure if Ford did make aluminum wheels, I'm sure someone on this site knows for sure. Going to a scrapyard to look is probably smart. New aluminum wheels cost a pretty penny.
I own an F150 and recently purchased a tire and wheel package through National Tire and Wheel, ntwonline.com. They have pretty good prices on packages like that if you have to purchase both wheels and tires.
And, they also have a tire chart that will tell you if the truck will have to be lifted in order for the tires you purchase to fit. Look for the link on the website that states "Tire Fitment Guide". Hope this helps.
