Battery wire help

I changed my dual batteries on my F350 last weekend and on the drivers side battery the smaller wire to hooks to the clamp crumbbled away and fell away. Anyone know where it goes and If I really need to get a new one? The one that's on there is hard and broken don't think I can splice it. Ford says I'd have to buy a complete new harness and that's about 250...! Ideas?

The wire is just a 8 or 10GA wire going to the Body Ground from the NEG post of the battery on the drivers side, G108.

battery help 93 F350

Ok remember the truck is in a sort of storage...the drivers batter has two wires coming off (8 or 10 gauge not sure) one is white the other black. Both are very brittle and the ends broke off...the wires goes down t a wire harness down by the steering column and disappears beneath the truck. I can't get under it right now but does anyone have any idea what they could be used for? I don't want to spend a lot of money replacing them if I don't need them right now ..They look like they were a part of the original clamp but not 100% sure
