CCSB Dually

Anyone ever see one, or have pics of one.

I am considering this. I can fix my rust by cutting it out and bolting on a set of conversion fenders

I've seen a few conversions. I think Trucks! is building one out of a 79 crew cab. I really like how it looks personally. Even if you use the factory box fenders, it still looks good to me.

Do you mean the smaller, round tubs when you say conversion fenders?

By conversion fenders, I mean dually fenders that look just like stock, but they bolt on to a reguar bed.

And thanks for the trucks link

Ford made shortbed duallys in the later trucks. They're kinda cool looking-the fenders take up almost the whole side of the bed!

Here is wat I did.

Used my shorbed and ARROWCRAFTs http://www.arrowcraft.com dually fenders. I also used pieces from a factory dually bed. I am **** and I do thing MY way and this is how I went about it

Drilled the holes to mount the passenger fender

Then CUT out what I didnt want(arrow craft wants you to leave the inner arch)

On drivers side, Again ARROWCRAFT wants you to leave the inner arch and just cu the gas tank doors bigger to fit the fender

After I got fender mounted and located I CUT the metal away I didnt want. This made MORE work for me because the skin had NO SUPPORT now. But I used some of the factory dually brackets and made some of my own

O, the backside of the Affowcraft dually fenders

The factory dually brackets I reused off of the factory 8' dually bed. And for those asking WHY didn't I use the factory dually fenders instead of the conversion ones, just look at how the factory dually bedside is shaped to accommodate the factory dually fender

Grafted them into my short bed. Used panel adhesive instead of welding to PREVENT rusting

I made these U shaped brackets for the top. the get sandwiched between the outer skin and inner structure. Bolts run thru them, thru the skin and thru the fender AND bonded. On the inner side, they are bonded

I then took the bed outside, sandblasted, POR15, Valspar tractor Lo-glare black. You can see in the sandblast pics, the upper brackets

I bonded on some of the Factory broken fender brackets to attach the Factory splash guards(arrowcraft gives you no splash guards). I also reused some of the factory Dually bed skin struts

I then spray Bed lined the inner wheel wells and inside the dually fenders(so flying stones do not STAR the fender when they hit, also color matched in silver)

Here are some pics before the fenders went on
Primed and wetsanded

Painted(dont mind F-up on tailgate)

Clear

Together on the truck. If you notice there is a Black line al the way around the fender. It is a Fender Welt moulding. Arrowcraft gives you some almond colored mounding that they want you to use(it looked like $#!+) SO I bought this black stuff. It keep the fender from digging into the paint on the bedside)
Arrowcraft also gave some weird nutserts to use to attach the fender to the bed(because you cant reach behind the skin to hold a nut if you leave all the metal on they want) I used stainless bolts, fender washers and nylock nuts.
I also used Factory filler necks(arrowcraft gave you extensions). I also MOVED the maker lights down on the fender(this way you dont have a CONSTANT glare of the amber light in your mirror)

Arrowcraft has you reuse the SRW filler doors. The Factory dually filler doors are about 3/4" Bigger than SRW ones.

All in all, this is NOT for a novice. I have about 20 hours into making the SRW bed into a DRW bed(not including paint) The Arrowcraft fenders are of a Very good quality and fit well, but like anything fiberglass, they need to be "fitted"

I understand why Arrowcraft had you mount the fenders like they did. It makes things MUCH simpler, but Simple is not in my Vocabulary

Hope this help anyone out who is thinking about making their truck a dually. If it was a long bed, the same thing applies(or just find a Factory dually bed and bolt it on)

i think they call that setup (short bed dually) "bobtail" as it's nick name iirc.
back along when checking them out, iirc, ford offered 'em sometime in the super duty era and even then kinda scarce.
im not a fan of the looks myself, but to each their own.besides not caring for that style setup personally, that truck sure turned out real nice Brad.
