continuance from earlier post :
what if i took a nipple say 8 or 10 " x 3" or whatever the id of the spring is [all threads on the nipple] and screwed a threaded flange unto it making it adjustable from 0-6"leaving 2 or 4" inside the spring.the other end could be welded to the perch.
