OK, Still missing my beer(s) though. About purchase a new truck to me, but used truck. Anyone remember what that website was that I could run the VIN and do some background checking on the truck?
Yes, it is a Ford 7.3. I will never go back to a gas truck. Dually, 2002...again. Nice Dark Blue with Gray Interior. Going to be nice being back hearing the diesel purr.
Yes, pictures will come if/when the truck is purchased. Did look at Carfax...ugh, spendy. Didn't even think of an Oasis. What needs to be done for an Oasis?

Carfax is pricey compared to what? Finding out something it might tell you otherwise? Of course the down side is, if they don't use a dealer or some large chain that submits stuff to where carfax gets it's info, then you still won't know anything. For the Oasis, you just need to find someone who works at Ford to run it for you. I wouldn't hold my breath on an oasis since it only shows what's been done at Ford, and if the PO has been paying Ford to do all the work, then he's either got lots of money to burn or is lucky enough to have a competent 7.3 mechanic locally.
Maybe stop by a used car dealer who doesn't have any trucks on the lot and offer the guy a few dollars cash to pull a carfax for you since many use car lots have a subscription to that.
I had seen different prices for carfax, $40+. Looking at the cost of Carfax compared to the cost of having to replace the motor or whatever, is worth the $40+. I will take my scan guage and do a buzz, contribution test. Also check for codes.

Actually, if the PO is paying Ford for repairs, it wouldn't show on OASIS anyway.
OASIS reports only show repair work done under warranty at a Ford dealership.
