When do you get the VIN?
Good evening, FTE. This is my first post. I've enjoyed several months of lurking around and really enjoy the forum.
My wife and I have a small horse farm in Lake Odessa, MI and recently put the '96 Ram 1500 to pasture for a F250 6.7. My first diesel and as I tell my wife (which I don't really believe) our last horse trailer truck (and my first Ford truck).
I ordered the truck 3/7 and my dealer told me yesterday to expect delivery in 3-4 weeks. I've noticed on some posts that members are getting their VIN before delivery. I asked my dealer about this but they have not responded yet. My company credit union just lowered the rate on 72 mos to 3.24 so I want to take advantage. I can purchase without receiving the truck so long as the VIN is released and the paperwork is finalized.
I apprecate the purchase advise I've found all over this site. Aside from price and value, the Ford outshines it's US truck bretheren by miles. I look forward to making some friends out there.

Reality is more around 6-8 weeks for delivery.
Mine was 12 weeks in the spring of '10.
As for the VIN, you'll have to keep contacting your sales person until you get it.
I received my VIN 9 days after it had already been built so I'm not much help.
If KTP hasn't issued a VIN yet, I know builds will be pushed a week back since KTP is shutting down next week and the rumors of part shortages are coming true and understandable due to Japan's situation.
Companies have disaster recovery plans (or they better) but it takes a little time to move those plans to a production status.
Care to share a few options of your truck?

Yeah, I read those thread too... I'm in insurance (OK send the bad jokes now) and really feel for the people of Japan... what a tragedy. And, I presumed there would be a delay. Oh well... half the fun is waiting... the other half comes when I get it. 
I'll be the proud owner of a CC LB Lariat 3.31 elocker with 5th/goose neck package and off-road pkg (I cut ALOT of fire wood and off road quite a bit) I opted for the spray in liner and Lariat Interior package... no navi, chrome or other fancies... would be nice but have to save money somewhere. I picked the Metalic Blue w/out accent.

My dealer received my VIN in about a week and a delivery date a few days later. Ordered mine 3/16 and ETA is said to be 4/11. The dealer says it is pretty close because mine will come from KY by truck, not rail. Salesman says they come about a week late thou. I am hoping for the 18th, we'll see..

Congratulation on truck. I ordered mine 7 weeks ago and have not received VIN yet. I am in a small town though and I think that may make the wait a little longer.

When I ordered in later Jan. I had the vin in a week. My salesman and dealer were great to work with. They kept in contact with me about the progress every week then after it was built twice a week until it arrived in 6 weeks.
